St. Peter the Patriarch

Martyred in Alexandria. I followed St.Theonas in 300 A.D. I am called “The Seal and Complement of Martyrs, because I was the last to be martyred through Authorities before Constantine’s Edict of Milan (Signed by the African Pope Victor I), put an end to the persecutions.
Throughout the Roman Emperor Decius’ persecutions, I was a teacher at the Alexandria catechetical school.
I vigorously opposed Origen, and proposed 14 rules for treating Christians who were backsliders
(lapsed). Eusebius complimented me as the model of a bishop.
The Meletian heresy/schism erupted. Some of my own priests joined it. I had to leave.
I was among the first to see the dangerous heresy of Arius (who led the Arians).
I convened a synod (meeting) after getting back to Alexandria, and railed against Meletius of Lycopolis. I was executed through the authority of Caesar by Maximin Daza with other Christians in my flock, 311 A.D.
